About Lumi PLEXEL
As skin changes over time, lines, uneven texture and laxity can become more noticeable. Lumi PLEXEL is offered at Lumi SKN Clinics Kettering as a radiofrequency microneedling treatment for selected skin concerns.
The treatment combines fractional radiofrequency energy with fine microneedles. The intention is to stimulate a repair response and collagen remodelling, which may improve the appearance of skin over time.
We begin by discussing your goals and assessing whether this procedure is appropriate. Potential benefits, limitations, recovery and alternatives should all be understood before treatment.

The treatment explained
Fine needles enter the skin and deliver radiofrequency energy, creating heat at selected depths. This controlled injury is intended to stimulate a healing response and collagen remodelling.
Your practitioner selects settings according to the device instructions, your skin and the treatment area. Depth and energy are not one-size-fits-all.
Skin remodelling is gradual. Your practitioner will explain the expected recovery, when to assess progress and whether a course of treatment is appropriate.
Improvements in texture, lines or laxity are not guaranteed, and this procedure does not replace a surgical lift.
Temporary redness, swelling and discomfort can occur. Serious complications reported with RF microneedling include burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve damage.
Discuss benefits, risks and alternatives with an appropriately qualified practitioner trained in the specific device. Ask about aftercare and who to contact if you have concerns.
Treatment goals
Potential improvements depend on your skin, the device, treatment settings and individual response.
A treatment option to discuss for the appearance of uneven skin texture.
Assessment of fine lines and whether RF microneedling fits your goals.
An individual plan for suitable scars, with realistic expectations.
A non-surgical option to consider, not a promise of lifting or tightening.
Candidates for Lumi PLEXEL
Your skin specialist will review your skin type, concerns and health before recommending treatment. An assessment is essential even if you have had another form of microneedling before.
Tell us about medicines, implanted devices, pregnancy or breastfeeding, active skin problems, previous procedures and any tendency to scar. Your practitioner will check the relevant contraindications and explain any reasons to postpone or avoid treatment.
Book NowAge alone does not establish suitability. We will discuss the options and help you make an informed decision, including when another treatment or medical referral may be more appropriate.

Common questions
Explore the treatment, suitability and recovery before you make a decision.
01536 675112 ↗Your clinic’s treatment menu includes concerns on the face, neck and selected body areas such as the abdomen, back, legs, buttocks, hands, elbows and knees. The areas that can actually be treated must be confirmed against the device instructions and your assessment. Treatment near the eyes requires particular expertise and appropriate precautions; it is not automatically suitable.
Fractional radiofrequency energy is delivered through fine needles that penetrate the skin. The resulting controlled injury and heat are intended to trigger a repair response and collagen remodelling. Needle depth and energy settings must be selected by a trained practitioner for the device, treatment area and patient—not applied as a fixed setting to everyone.
A consultation is needed to assess your skin, medical history, current medicines, previous treatments and goals. We will discuss potential benefits, risks and alternatives. Treatment may need to be modified, postponed or declined where contraindications or other concerns are identified.
RF microneedling may be considered for a range of skin tones, but the term “colour-blind” does not mean risk-free. Pigment changes and other complications can occur. Your practitioner should have experience treating your skin tone and assess whether this device and procedure are appropriate for you.
RF microneedling may be considered for the appearance of some scars, including selected acne scars. The type of scar matters, and not all scars are suitable. Your practitioner will discuss realistic expectations, alternatives and whether a combined approach is appropriate. Scar removal cannot be guaranteed.
Your practitioner will explain the plan, prepare the treatment area and discuss comfort measures. A topical anaesthetic may be used when appropriate. The handpiece is applied to the agreed areas using settings selected for your skin. The clinic’s guide estimates around 30 minutes for treatment, excluding preparation and numbing, but appointment length varies.
You may feel pricking, heat or discomfort. Sensation varies according to the person, area and settings used. Discuss numbing and other comfort measures with your practitioner. Tell the practitioner promptly if you experience significant pain.
RF microneedling penetrates the skin, so it is not non-invasive. Redness, swelling, tenderness, peeling or crusting can occur. Follow personalised instructions about sunscreen, skincare, makeup, exercise and heat, and seek prompt medical advice for concerning symptoms.
Changes may develop gradually over weeks to months. The degree and duration of improvement vary, and an early change can reflect temporary swelling rather than the final result. A course or maintenance treatment may be discussed after reviewing your response. A lasting lift or results for a set number of years cannot be guaranteed.
