At Lumi SKN Clinics Kettering, we offer two options: a standard dermaplaning facial and a luxury dermaplaning facial with added LED therapy.

How it works.
Gentle exfoliation
Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical blade to carefully remove dead surface skin cells and fine vellus hair, commonly called peach fuzz.
Our practitioners use controlled strokes over the skin, creating a smoother-feeling surface. Your skin is assessed before treatment so the approach can be adapted to you.
The benefits
Removing surface buildup and peach fuzz can leave skin feeling softer and looking fresher, with a smoother base for makeup.
We can also discuss concerns about dullness, dry surface flakes and uneven-looking texture. Deeper scars, persistent pigmentation and wrinkles may need a different approach; dermaplaning does not guarantee their removal.

Luxury dermaplaning facial: includes an LED therapy treatment alongside your dermaplaning facial.
The LED option is selected after assessing your skin and suitability. Your practitioner will explain the light therapy used and what it may add to your treatment.
A safe treatment
Professional dermaplaning is generally well tolerated, but irritation, small cuts, infection or changes in pigmentation are possible. An individual skin assessment helps reduce these risks.
Active acne, open wounds, cold sores or inflamed skin may mean treatment should be postponed. Tell your practitioner about skin conditions, medicines and recent treatments. Follow the aftercare advice provided, including sun protection and guidance on exfoliating products.

We usually suggest appointments around 4–6 weeks apart, depending on your skin’s needs and response. Your skin should have recovered fully before another session. Your practitioner will advise on the right interval for you.
Is dermaplaning painful?
Most clients find the facial comfortable, although you may feel a light scraping sensation. Let your practitioner know if anything feels uncomfortable. Temporary redness, tenderness or irritation can occur, so recovery and aftercare are individual rather than guaranteed to be downtime-free.
Can dermaplaning be combined with other treatments?
Our luxury facial includes LED therapy. Other combinations, such as selected peels or hydrofacials, may be appropriate following assessment. Your practitioner will recommend suitable timing and products to avoid over-exfoliating or irritating your skin.
Will my hair grow back thicker after dermaplaning?
No. Cutting fine facial hair at the surface does not change the follicle or make it grow thicker, darker or faster. Regrowth can initially feel different because the cut tip is blunt, but dermaplaning does not alter the hair’s natural growth pattern.
