Understanding your treatment

About Plasma Pen
Fibroblast

Plasma Pen is a non-surgical treatment used with the aim of improving selected areas of skin laxity, wrinkles and uneven texture. Suitability and likely benefit depend on your skin, the device and the area being considered.

The Science Behind Plasma Technology

Plasma is an ionised gas, often described as the fourth state of matter. Plasma pens use electrical energy to produce a small discharge near the skin, creating localised heat and controlled surface injury.

This injury initiates a healing response. Treatment aims to encourage collagen and elastin remodelling over the following weeks, potentially improving the appearance of firmness and texture. It is not equivalent to a surgical lift.

Potential Benefits of Plasma Pen Fibroblasting

  • May improve the appearance of skin tone, texture and elasticity.
  • May help selected areas of loose or sagging skin appear firmer.
  • May soften the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet.
  • Can be discussed for concerns around the jawline and eyelids, subject to specialist assessment and device suitability.
  • May provide longer-lasting changes without surgical excision; outcomes and duration vary.

Plasma Pen may be considered for selected areas of the face and body. The consultation will establish whether the expected benefit justifies the risks for you.

The treatment explained

How it Works:
The Plasma Pen Process

Skin Preparation

The targeted area is cleansed, and a numbing cream may be applied to help reduce discomfort during the procedure. Your practitioner will discuss comfort measures and check that the planned treatment is suitable for you.

Plasma Application

The Plasma Pen creates small, controlled thermal injuries on the skin’s surface. These treatment points trigger a wound-healing response. Although no surgical incision is made, the skin is deliberately injured and requires aftercare.

Collagen and Elastin Stimulation

The treatment aims to stimulate fibroblast activity and the skin’s collagen and elastin response as it heals. This may improve firmness and texture over time, but the degree of improvement varies.

Healing Process

Small crusts form on the treated skin. These often separate naturally within around 5–10 days, although healing may take longer. Do not pick or remove them. Follow the personalised skincare and sun-protection advice provided by your practitioner.

Gradual Improvements

Changes may develop over the following 4–12 weeks as the skin heals and remodels. The timing and extent of improvement depend on the area treated and your individual response; a particular result cannot be guaranteed.

A personalised assessment

Candidates for
Plasma Pen Fibroblast

Our experienced therapists will discuss your suitability during a thorough consultation. This includes your skin concerns, treatment area, medical history, healing and realistic expectations.

Plasma Pen is not suitable for everyone. Your practitioner should assess the risk of pigment changes and scarring, discuss alternatives and explain the recovery involved before a decision is made.

You may wish to discuss treatment if you:

  • Have wrinkles, fine lines or crow’s feet around the eyes, mouth or forehead.
  • Are concerned about sagging skin on the eyelids, neck or jawline.
  • Want advice about stretch marks, scars or loose skin on the body.
  • Are exploring non-surgical skin tightening, while understanding it is not a substitute for a facelift.
  • Have healthy skin without active infections, acne in the treatment area or conditions that may affect healing.

These concerns do not automatically make someone suitable. An individual assessment is required, especially for treatment near the eyes.

Have a question?

Quick answers to questions you may have

Learn more about treatment areas, expected changes and recovery before your consultation.

What areas can be treated with Plasma Pen Fibroblasting?

Areas discussed during consultation may include:

  • Face: crow’s feet, forehead lines, nasolabial folds and lines around the mouth.
  • Neck: wrinkles and selected areas of loose skin.
  • Body: abdominal skin, stretch marks, scars and other selected areas of laxity.

Eyelid treatment requires particular caution because of the risk of eye injury and changes to eyelid skin. Not every device or practitioner is appropriate for every area; suitability must be confirmed before treatment.

How long do results last?

Results and their duration vary with your skin, the treatment area, healing response, ageing and sun exposure. Improvements may be lasting, but permanent results or a fixed number of years cannot be promised. Your practitioner will discuss realistic expectations and any appropriate review or further treatment.

How soon will I see results?

You may notice an early tightening effect, but swelling and healing can affect the initial appearance. Changes may continue over approximately 4–12 weeks. Your practitioner will advise when to assess the outcome; individual responses vary.

What is the downtime?

Allow time for visible redness, swelling and crusting. Small crusts often come away within around 5–10 days, but redness or other changes may last longer. Recovery depends on the area and intensity of treatment.

Pigment changes, burns, scarring and infection are possible, so this should not be treated as a no-downtime procedure. Follow your practitioner’s aftercare and contact the clinic promptly if healing is not progressing as expected.
