About LED facials

A different light
on skin care.

At Lumi SKN Clinics Kettering, LED facials form part of a personalised approach to caring for your skin. This non-invasive treatment uses light energy, with wavelengths chosen according to your concerns.

LED therapy may help with certain types of acne, inflammation and visible signs of ageing. Red and blue light have different applications, so a consultation helps identify whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Rather than promising the same outcome for every skin type, we discuss your goals, current skincare and expected response. Improvements may be subtle and usually require a course of treatments.

The treatment explained

How it works.

How does LED work?

LED therapy uses selected wavelengths of light to interact with the skin at different depths. Depending on the wavelength and treatment protocol, it may support processes involved in skin renewal and help with certain skin concerns.

Red light is used for concerns about inflammation and signs of ageing. Blue light can target bacteria involved in acne. Your practitioner will choose an appropriate approach for your skin.

What are the different types of LED light used?

Red light: may support collagen production and help reduce inflammation and the appearance of fine lines.

Blue light: can target acne-associated bacteria and may help some types of acne.

Green and yellow light: feature in some protocols for concerns about tone or redness. Evidence and effects vary by device and protocol; they should not be treated as guaranteed solutions for pigmentation or hydration.

Your practitioner will explain which wavelengths are available and appropriate for you.

Is the treatment safe?

LED therapy is generally well tolerated when an appropriate device and protocol are used, but no treatment is risk-free or suitable for everyone. Temporary irritation or redness can occur.

Tell your practitioner about medicines, light sensitivity, eye conditions and your medical history before treatment. Appropriate eye protection and an individual suitability assessment are important.

How long does an LED treatment take?

A session typically takes around 20–30 minutes. Allow additional time for consultation, preparation or any other facial treatments included in your appointment.

Many clients return to their usual activities afterwards. Your practitioner will explain what to expect and any aftercare needed for your skin.

Candidates for LED facials

Care that starts
with your skin.

If you want a non-invasive approach to improving your skin’s appearance, LED therapy may be an option. We begin by understanding what you would like to change and whether light therapy can reasonably help.

Our team will assess your skin, review relevant medical history and discuss your goals. Sensitive skin, pigmentation and ongoing skin conditions need an individual assessment rather than a one-size-fits-all treatment.

  • The appearance of fine lines and ageing
  • Sensitivity, inflammation or redness

LED facials · what to expect

Progress, made personal.

Changes develop with consistent, appropriate treatment. Your practitioner will discuss realistic expectations and review your response.

Results vary with your skin, the device and the treatment plan. LED therapy is not a guaranteed solution for every concern.

What skin concerns can LED facials help with?

LED therapy may help some types of acne, inflammation and the appearance of fine lines. Its usefulness depends on the wavelength, device and your skin. Persistent pigmentation, acne scars or active skin disease may need a different treatment or clinical assessment.

How often should I get an LED facial?

Our suggested starting plan is 6–8 treatments, spaced 1–2 weeks apart, with maintenance considered afterwards. This is a guide, not a requirement for every client. Your practitioner will recommend a schedule based on the device, your concerns and your response.

Is LED facial therapy painful?

Most people find LED therapy comfortable and may notice mild warmth. If you experience discomfort, tell your practitioner immediately. Many clients need little or no recovery time, although your skin’s response and any combined treatments can affect aftercare.

Can LED facials be combined with other treatments?

LED may be included alongside selected facials, microneedling or chemical peels where appropriate. Your practitioner will assess compatibility, timing and your skin’s condition, then create an individual treatment plan.
