It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar. The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because there were thousands of bad Commas, wild Question Marks and devious Semikoli, but the Little Blind Text didn’t listen. She packed her seven versalia, put her initial into the belt and made herself on the way. When she reached the first hills of the Italic Mountains, she had a last view back on the skyline of her hometown Bookmarksgrove, the headline of Alphabet Village and the subline of her own road, the Line Lane.

2025 marks the year that skin cancer diagnoses have hit an all time high in the UK, which is devastating news as it is estimated that up to 90% of skin cancer cases are preventable. The average waiting time for a dermatology referral in England is three months. That’s why we are proud to offer Map My Mole mole and lesion screening services at LumiSKN Clinics Kettering, because three months is too long to wait for cancer. Designed to support early detection of skin cancer, this service allows you to have suspicious moles or skin lesions reviewed quickly and professionally, without the long NHS wait.
What is Map My Mole?
Map My Mole is a specialist dermatology service that uses high-resolution dermoscoping imaging, right here in our Kettering skin clinic! Each image is reviewed by consultant-level dermatologists, with detailed reports returned to you (and your GP if needed), within 48 hours.
This service adheres to the same guidelines set by The British Association of Dermatologists, offering a safe, evidence-based alternative to traditional pathways of GP referrals.
Why This Matters
Early detection can save lives. Skin cancer is one of the fastest-rising cancers in the UK, but if caught early enough, it can also be the most treatable.
This new service offers:
- Rapid, expert-level assessment of moles and lesions.
- Gives you peace of mind by cutting the long waiting lists and unnecessary anxiety of waiting weeks for biopsy results.
- Reviewed by qualified dermatology consultants, not therapists or AI.
- Information that can help healthcare professionals prioritise patients who need urgent interventions.
So, What’s The Process?
First, book an appointment either in person or online, at LumiSKN Clinics Kettering. One of our expert practitioners will take a dermascopic image of the mole or lesion using medical-grade equipment. We will then send that image to be reviewed by a consultant dermatologist, and you’ll receive a report within 48 hours with clear, actionable guidance.
How will I know if I need the service?
We recommend using the ABCD method of checking whether a mole is worrisome:
A – Asymmetry
Normal moles are usually symmetrical, whereas melanomas are often asymmetrical in shape. If you draw a vertical line down the middle of the lesion, do the two sides match?
B – Border
Look at the edges of your mole. Benign moles tend to have smooth, even borders. Melanomas often have irregular, blurred, or jagged edges.
C – Colour
Is the colour uniform? Healthy moles are generally a single shade. Melanomas may contain multiple colours or shades (brown, black, red, white, blue).
D – Diameter
Check the size of your moles! Benign moles are usually less than 6mm in diameter, about the size of the rubber on the end of a pencil. Melanomas are often larger, but early-stage melanomas can be much smaller.
Bonus: E – Evolving
This means any change in size, shape, colour, elevation, or symptoms (like itching, bleeding, crusting etc) over time. Any evolving mole should be checked out ASAP!
If you’ve noticed a mole that’s changed in any way, or you simply want a second-opinion to be safe, Map My Mole provides a quick, professional solution to put your mind at ease, without months of waiting.
Book your appointment today at LumiSKN Clinics Kettering and take the worry out of waiting!
